Honest Scrap Award

I have been honored with the Honest Scrap Award by fellow #fridayflash enthusiast, Dan Powell of dan powell – fiction. Thank you so much, Dan!

The award is meant to be passed on to bloggers who post from the heart. The rules are simple: pass the award on to seven worthy blogs and list ten honest things about yourself.

My list of seven ‘honest’ bloggers who post from the heart:

Tomara Armstrong of This, That…The Other Thing

JujuJuniper of We Can All Use a Little More Juju

Stef from 52 Weeks of Wordage

Carol Kilgore of Under the Tiki Hut

Laura Mercurio Ebohon of Laura Mercurio Ebohon

Lisa Gurney of My Life As a Daughter

Angel Zapata from A Rage of Angel

Now on to the ten honest things about me –

1. Hate coffee, but love coffee-flavored ice cream.

2. Have always wanted to live on a space station.

3. Love to travel, but not around the U.S.

4. Don’t like to cook, but haven’t found a chef willing to work for free yet.

5. Love cats.

6. Like to watch snow fall, but then it needs to go away – which is why I live in the South.

7. Am a native Californian.

8. Don’t watch TV.

9. Was pushed aside by Princess Leia in the battle for my 5 yr old son’s affections – I guess she was Hot Woman, hair buns and all.

10. Detest phones.

Many thanks to dan powell – fiction for giving me this award. And to my awardees, please pass the award on so that we may all continue to meet new people.

  1. Laura, thank you so much for thinking about me and my blog, this award means so much to me! I believe that the world inside of us is as important as the one around us as we all live parallel lives, between every day anxiety and spiritual promenade. Thank you also because this is the last week of editing before all becomes definitive for my first poetry book and your award gave me such a push of encouragement...

    Honestly, Thank You :)

  2. I detest phones too, which is unfortunate as I'm a switchboard operator. Sigh!

    Seriously, a space station.

  3. Oh wow, thanks for clarifying that. I thought the award was gonna be for crappy blogs. Almost had to put my records on (not to mention my sympathy face)

Seeing as that's not the case, congrats!

  4. Laura - Your poetry is beautiful and honest - you deserve it!

Cate - My condolences on your job :) Seriously...a space station!

Empress Awesome - No sympathy faces here! I'm not sure who came up with that name though. :)

  5. Well deserved award, Laura.

And thank you for thinking of me to pass it on. I'll do my best to live up to it.

  6. Awe, thank you so much for the award... I hope I can find enough people to pass it on to.

I haven't written many honest posts lately; it's been all fiction, but my older ones are riddled with angst (that's honest, right?)

I hope to live on a space station one day... if I can't live on Mars.

  7. Carol - Your postings always come from the heart and it shows in your varied topics.

~2 - Everything you do comes from the heart...seriously! I'd live on Mars too.

  8. Laura! Thank you SO much! I feel very very special xo

I have a bit of an issue though...I am new to blogging so don't follow many blogs yet. Can I wait a couple weeks while I research some that I've been meaning to follow and then give them out to 7 people? Is that ok?

    THANK YOU AGAIN...means a lot!

  9. You're welcome! Your blog speaks from the heart with humor and grace, while tackling a very difficult subject.

Take all the time you need to pass it on...there's no time limit on heartfelt. :)

  10. Laura,
Quite the surprise. And damn, with the smile I'm now wearing, who's gonna believe I'm an angry writer? Well, of course I'm not angry. In fact, I'm very happy. Thank you so much for the award. "Honest Scrap..." not sure what it means exactly, but I like it. Although on my site, an award for "Shooting the Crap" might be closer to the truth ;-)

I'll do my best to pass this on in a timely manner.

  11. Angel - It's not TV, so I won't tell anyone that you're wearing a smile...

You tell it like it is, both on your blog and in your poetry, so the award suits you. :)

  12. Hey, congratulations on the Honest Scrap Award, Laura!

  13. Spooky - I don't drink hot coffee, but drink Iced Coffee. Weightlessness would help with my back and knee issues. Travel - wouldn't mind if I could afford it. Don't like cooking. Love cats, tigers in particular but have two domestic ones of my own. Hate cold, love heat, but snow is beautiful. Don't watch a lot of TV and absolutely detest phones!

Two sides of the same coin really.

    :c)

  14. Thanks, Alan!

BT - Two sides of the same coin. That's either a beautiful thing, or downright scary...:)

  15. I agree with this one:
"Like to watch snow fall, but then it needs to go away – which is why I live in the South."
Except that I want it to stay long enough to search in the closet to find a coat, run out in it, play a bit, take pictures, and drink hot chocolate, then it can go away.

  16. Exactly, Helen! And don't forget the crackling fire while drinking hot chocolate...

Go ahead and talk to me. Really. I want you to. Don't make me beg.
